Welcome to Velvet Noir. This is where velvet meets lace.

I spend most of my time hunting through thrift stores and antique shops looking for things other people walked past. Vintage shoes, ornate mirrors, silver cigarette cases, dolls, stuffed animals, furniture I'll probably restore. If it's old, forgotten, or a little strange, I'm taking it home. The dolls and stuffed animals are their own thing entirely, and I'm not even a little bit casual about it. Vintage ones, new ones, ones I didn't need but couldn't leave behind. They all end up somewhere in my house looking like they've lived there forever.

Most days I'm living in thrifted pajamas, but when the mood strikes I love putting together something that feels like it belongs in another era. Moody, romantic, a little dramatic. Lace, velvet, heels that have no business being as beautiful as they are. It doesn't happen every day, but when it does, it's a whole thing.

When I'm not thrifting, I'm probably looking for my next horror or thriller film to watch, falling down a true crime rabbit hole, making something out of nothing, or planning my next trip to somewhere beautiful and a little bit spooky. I live with 9 cats (yes, nine) and have strong opinions about horror that nobody asked for.

This blog is all of it. The hauls, the projects, the room makeovers, the movie reviews, the travel, the outfits, and the cats (always the cats). If you're into moody romantic aesthetics and things that are a little bit spooky and a lot beautiful, you're in the right place.
